Hate.
" Next up is a speech by Sushree Chauhan on feminism.", the MC announced.
I adjusted my saree, smiled at mom and walked towards the stage. It was a large gathering of women and teens. Being the CEO of a Sumanth Consultancy Services, I was the Chief Guest.
"Hello everyone. It's really great seeing so many pretty ladies gathered here." , I said, with a tone of excitement.
"So, Feminism,eh? Every now and then, I see people writing stuff on social media about how all men are dogs and they should be hated. I used to think the same too. Even worse, I stopped trusting men.
Until one day."
I could sense the curiosity everyone had.
"It was my bestie's B'day and we were just 19. The party ended late. Almost around 11:30.
We checked out the hotel and I was waiting for my parents to arrive. My friend's insisted on staying but I asked them to leave.
I noticed that two men were constantly stalking me. They walked close to me and tried to talk to me. Avoided them and walked aside. Tried calling my dad but his phone was out of reach.
Two of those men called their friends and around 3-4 of them were following me.
They followed me to a dark lane and tried grabbing my waist. Tried hitting them but they got over me.
And there's suddenly a loud sound of bike and I see a young man of nearly my age fighting with those men. He was shouting at me to run while those men were hitting.
Without knowing anything, I ran as fast I could to the nearest house.
The young man who helped was getting beaten up and was already on the ground.
The men noticed that they could get caught. They fled leaving the guy in the pool of blood.
The house owners noticed my situation and calmed me down."
Some ladies in the crowd were in tears.
"The guy who saved was almost dead. We took him to the hospital. "
"Mom, please bring Sumath", I said to my mother.
Sumath Rajput was brought in to the stage in a wheelchair.
"The person who saved my life 6 years ago. That night took huge toll on him. He was hit so hard that it paralysed him. He's a part of my family now. This company, the property everything belongs to Sumath. I want him to have all the happiness he wanted. We're flying to Canada next week for a treatment the doctors suggested and they say he'll be alright. I've promised to be there with him and protect him for the rest of his life."
"I didn't believe in heroes, until i found myself one.", I said with a huge smile.
The happiness on everyone's face lit up the entire auditorium.
"Why do we hate men? Do they deserved to be hated? Do they deserved to be compared to dogs?
At every moment, they've played huge roles in our life. As a Father, Brother and Husband and what not.
Agreed, that there will be some who are worse than humans but not all.
And each time they do anything bad to us, they should be given the worst punishment.
But Hate is a really strong word. Do all of them deserved to be hated ? Ask yourself...", Finished my speech and recieved a standing ovation from everyone.
I walked up to Sumath and whispered in his ears, "No one will ever hate anyone like you."
